Church building

Vision for a House of Honor

"Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the LORD. - Haggai 1:8

Austin Christian Fellowship of India (ACFI) started with a group of four families meeting together to praise, worship and study the Word of God. This fellowship with humble beginnings was established as a church in 2001 and by God’s abundant grace has flourished with currently over 50 families as its members, with over 40 additional families participating frequently… ACFI is an extended family and a great support during both good and bad times. The passion to serve believers, the yearning to reach the unsaved, the desire to support missions and the heart to show compassion exemplifies the vision of ACFI; yes, ACFI is indeed a family of believers with BIG hearts – quite appropriate for a Texas-based church!

As our church has grown over the years, we have continuously sought bigger spaces to meet. The commercial renting costs in Austin and surrounding areas have risen exponentially as the city is getting bigger and more populous with each passing day. The average commercial rent based on the 60 locations that were considered was around $6500 a month. The availability of rentable locations to worship on Sundays and conduct its ministries through the week, is severely limited. Additionally, accommodating a growing church entails certain challenges. Setting up 200 chairs, the stage and media equipment on a weekly basis takes a lot of effort on the part of our volunteers. After the church service is over, tearing down takes equal time and effort.

We are blessed with over 50 children in our Children’s Ministry. Creating a conducive environment to teach the Word of God is a mammoth feat for our Sunday school teachers who use temporary classrooms to teach the kids who range in age from toddlers to high school.
Searching for new locations every year after the lease is up is fairly tedious and requires further time, effort and commitment. Our ability to conduct ministries in a structured and efficient way is hindered due to the unavailability of a permanent facility. We get by with meeting in houses and places we can find, but it takes its toll and leaves a lot to be desired.

Thank you for patiently reading thus far to understand our vision, challenges and where we are in our journey as a church. God has laid it in our hearts as a church body to establish a house of worship for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have raised $400,000 from within our congregation. The estimated cost for a facility of our own is $2 – $3 million. The task at hand looks daunting through human eyes, but the questions and fear dissolve as we look at our mighty Lord. We believe in the promise of Haggai 2:8

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies”

Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you. - Deuteronomy 16:17
